Steamed Mussels with white wine, a classic dish that was easy to prepare and delightfully good! The sweet briny juices of the mussels combined with the rest of the ingredients brings a touch of class to the dining table :) A tasty appetizer on its own or add pasta for a hearty meal...whatever you choose...you will enjoy this dish to the very last drop of the sauce....slurp :P.....
Ingredients
2 lbs fresh mussels - scrubbed clean under running water
1 cup dry white wine
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp minced garlic
some chopped parsley
Method
- Put the mussels in a large bowl. Clean and scrub the mussels under running water. Throw out any that are wide open. Pull out any long hairy threads towards the hinge of the shell.
- Heat up olive oil and butter over medium heat. Fry the minced garlic till aromatic.
- Add mussels to the large pan. Add wine to the pan. Cover and bring to a boil.
- Cook for five minutes or until all the shells are opened.
- Check the taste and add salt if necessary.
- Sprinkle chopped parsley and served immediately.
