Baked Lotus Root Cake
recipe adapted from here
Ingredients
150 gm young lotus root, finely grated
220 gm butter/margarine
130 gm caster sugar
1/8 tsp salt
5 eggs separated
285 gm plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp vanilla
75 gm raisins

Chicken Tomato Soup
3-4 large tomatoes- blended
cooked chicken breast - tear into pieces
2 bay leaves
1 white onion - diced
2 cloves garlic - chopped
2 tbsp olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
Chicken Soup with Cong Cao Hua
Ingredients
half organic chicken
8 red dates
handful of sliced ginseng
handful cong cao hua
handful goji berry
3 slices ginger
Method

Method
- Place all ingredients in a slow cooker.
- Boil for 5 to 6 hours.
- Ladle into bowls and serve warm.

Japanese Yam Dessert Soup
Ingredients
1 Japanese yam - peeled and cut into cubes]
2 pandan leaves - knotted
handful goji berry
rock sugar to taste
2 cups water
Method

Method
- Bring water, pandan leaves and ginger to a boil.
- Continue to boil for a few minutes.
- Add cubed yam and goji berry and boil till tender.
- Add rock sugar to taste.
- Ladle into serving bowls.
- Serve warm or chilled.
Stir Fried Eggplant with Minced Meat
Ingredients
10 indian eggplants - cut into slices
2 cloves garlic - chopped
8 dried prawns - soaked and drained
1 fresh red chili - sliced
150g minced meat
salt
drizzle of sesame oil
pepper to taste
1 tbsp black vinegar

Pan Fried Black Pepper Pork Chop
Sandwich Bread
3/4 cup warm water
1 package active dry yeast
1 tsp salt
1-1/2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp vegetable shortening
1/2 cup milk
3 cups all-purpose flour, approximately

Braised pig's intestine
Ingredients
1 pkt pig's intestines (cleaned)
for cleaning the intestines, refer to here

Method
Put intestines into the sauce and braise over low heat till tender.
Braised Spinach Noodle
2 bundles fresh spinach noodles
200g minced meat
slices of fish cake
1 packet fresh brown beech mushrooms
one small bundle spinach
2 cups chicken stock
2 shallots- peeled and sliced
3 cloves garlic- chopped
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
Method
- Heat up 1 tbsp oil in pan. Fry shallots and garlic till aromatic.
- Add mushrooms and fry for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add minced meat and fish cake.
- Drizzle sauce and do a quick stir fry over high heat.
- Add chicken broth and pepper and let it come to a boil. Add noodles and let it braise for a few minutes. Add spinach and toss to mix well.
- Drizzle sesame oil and add vinegar and toss to mix. Transfer to serving bowls and top with fried shallots.
